We read these two letters from the 19th century. What do you think about them?
"What you wrote to me in one of your letters about your musical activities in relation to Felix is as well thought out as it is written. Perhaps for him music will become his profession, while for you it will always remain an ornament; it can never and must never become the basis of your daily existence and life", said the letter that Fanny Mendelssohn's father wrote to her when she was fifteen years old. This letter also urged her not to lose her femininity, which her prodigious knowledge of the piano was believed to give her.
On the other hand, when Fanny's brother Felix Mendelssohn turned 16, he received a letter from the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe congratulating him on the quartet concerto he had composed for her. The writer sent greetings to his parents, his teacher and his "equally talented sister".

Do you think that although Romanticism defends the freedom of the individual, it still labels women with a role to play in society, as mother, wife, etc.? What do you think?
In Spanish...
